What’s Shaping Autumn 2025 Around the World
What's your favorite autumn memory? Pulling roots? Making maple leaf specimens? Or the rustling sound of leaves as you walked? Have the friends you played with back then already moved abroad, lost in thought as they gazed at the changing colors of fallen leaves? Perhaps autumn hasn't arrived there yet? A whimpering autumn breeze blew, and I quickly hushed my thoughts, asking them to send their blessings far away.
Why are there spring, summer, autumn, and winter?
The Earth's rotation causes the area of the Earth illuminated by the sun to differ from east to west. This means that while it's daytime in some places, it's nighttime in cities on the other side. This rotation happens once a day, so we see the sun rise in the east and set in the west every day.
The difference between spring, summer, autumn, and winter comes from the sun's orbit around the sun, which causes the amount of sunlight reaching the Earth to differ from north to south. Fortunately, the Earth's axis is not perpendicular to the plane of its orbit, but rather tilted at an angle of 23 degrees and 27 minutes, ensuring that no city experiences prolonged periods of sunlight.
But because the sun moves between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn during each revolution, temperatures vary from place to place throughout the year. Take China, for example. Located in the Northern Hemisphere, when the sun approaches the Tropic of Cancer, the weather becomes hotter, which we perceive as summer. When the sun reaches the Tropic of Capricorn, winter is approaching.

Autumn Around the World
- Japan
September-November: Autumn in Japan is filled with crimson leaves. But it's not just crimson leaves. In this country with distinct seasons, autumn lasts for two to three months. During this time, many people go on outings, visit temples, or even just go shopping.
- France
September-October: After searching around the world, I finally decided to write about autumn in Paris. Amidst a rich British romance, the streets flanking the Seine exude a mature beauty, allowing one to sense the depth behind the prosperity. For the locals, clothing represents both elegance and warmth. Autumn here simply expresses beauty in a different way.
- Russia
July to November: Before the Siberian cold front arrives, this vast land refuses to remain quiet, dyeing every leaf red. Let's have a fervent party. Perhaps this is the last revelry before winter.
